Webinar |"Losses-to-buffer" approach for calibrating target PN CCyB rate

online Este é um evento online

About the event

The event is a joint initiative of the Research Collective on Advanced Studies in Regulation of the Brazilian Financial System (NEASF) and the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB). In the webinar, European Central Bank (ECB) researchers Giorgia De Nora and Mara Pirovano will present a study proposing a methodology for calibrating the countercyclical capital buffer (CCyB), including a positive neutral rate. The approach aims to enable an earlier and more gradual build-up of releasable capital buffers, strengthening the banking system’s capacity to absorb shocks and support credit supply during periods of stress. The BCB has been following this work as part of the discussion on its potential application in Brazil.

Speakers:

Lucas Thevenard - Coordinator of NEASF

Fernanda Bandeira - Prudential and Foreign Exchange Regulation Department at the BCB/Dereg

Giorgia De Nora - Financial Stability Expert at the ECB

Mara Pirovano - Team Lead of Financial Stability at the ECB
