This webinar aims to examine the geopolitical transformations triggered by the war in Ukraine and their broader implications for the Eurasian region and the international order. Since the outbreak of the conflict, Eurasia has experienced profound shifts in security dynamics, great-power competition, and the functioning of multilateral institutions. The war has intensified debates over sovereignty, territorial integrity, nuclear deterrence, and the resilience of the rules-based international order.
Bringing together Brazilian and Japanese scholars, the event will explore how the protracted conflict is reshaping strategic alignments, influencing relations among major powers, and affecting global security governance. Special attention will be given to the perspectives of middle powers such as Brazil and Japan, both of which have expressed support for international law and multilateral solutions to global crises.
The discussion seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the evolving Eurasian geopolitical landscape and its implications for international stability, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities it presents for Brazil–Japan cooperation.
